Rooted in family.
Grounded in care.
We set up Baka Legal to be a steady presence for families in Melaka dealing with estate matters — quiet, considered, and without pressure.
Back to HomeA practice built around the family line
Baka Legal was founded with a simple idea: that families dealing with inheritance matters deserve a legal service that feels human. The word baka — lineage, the family line — shapes everything we do. We exist to help that line hold steady across generations.
Our principal, Encik Farid bin Zulkifli, spent the early part of his career observing how difficult and confusing estate administration can be for ordinary families, especially at a time of grief. He established Baka Legal in Melaka to offer something different: patient advice, honest fees, and explanations that any family member can follow.
Today we help families across Melaka draft wills, settle estates through probate and letters of administration, and navigate the sometimes-delicate process of dividing an estate fairly. We work with both civil estates and those where faraah principles apply, without preference and without pressure.
Keeping it fair, keeping it clear
Patient by design
We do not rush clients. Estate matters take the time they take, and we are comfortable with that.
Transparent about costs
We share our fees before we begin. There are no hidden charges and no obligation after a first conversation.
Impartial across all estate types
We assist with civil estates and those distributed under faraah principles alike, with equal care and no preference.
Plain language, always
Legal language is translated into plain terms so families feel informed rather than confused at every step.

Baka Legal operates under the rules and conduct standards of the Malaysian Bar Council for all legal services.
Clear Documentation
Every step is documented and explained. We do not proceed to the next stage of an estate without the client's understanding and agreement.

We keep clients updated at each stage of administration. You will not be left wondering what is happening with your matter.
Fee Transparency
A written estimate is provided before any chargeable work begins. Our fees follow the standard schedules under the Legal Profession Act where applicable.
Data Protection
Personal data is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We store only what is necessary and for as long as required.
A Melaka practice grounded in estate law
Baka Legal focuses on inheritance and estate matters in Melaka, Malaysia. Estate administration often comes at a time of loss, when families need clear, unhurried guidance more than anything else. We have built our practice around that reality.
Our work covers the full range of estate-related legal needs: drafting and reviewing wills, applying for probate and letters of administration through the courts, helping beneficiaries understand their entitlements, and facilitating family discussions about estate division. For Muslim estates where faraah distribution applies, we work alongside the relevant Jabatan Agama procedures as needed.
Many families come to us unsure of the difference between a will and a trust, or whether probate is required for a particular asset. We welcome those questions. Starting from first principles is always a reasonable place to begin, and we will not make you feel otherwise.
Melaka's community is diverse, with families from various backgrounds and different legal frameworks that may apply to their estates. Baka Legal is familiar with both civil and Islamic estate administration pathways and can help families identify which route is appropriate for their circumstances without bias.
We believe that dealing with an estate should not require a family to become legal experts. Our role is to carry the legal burden so the family can focus on the things that matter more.
